11-6

Good news, Deep Impact is back on for December 15th for its DVD release!

11-4

I just added the artwork of the box for the Deep Impact DVD to the media gallery. Let's hope this delay doesn't last too long.

11-2

Paramount has replaced the Deep Impact DVD with Patriot Games. No word as to why, but the only reason that I can think of would be Spielberg holding back on his "A-List" titles until the DVD market matures even further.

10-28

Well, Deep Impact is now finally out on tape, get it while it's hot!

10-21

Apparently the Deep Impact has been pushed back a week. No word as to why, so just hold-on tight for seven more days.

10-19

Rumors are that Deep Impact will be out on DVD on December 15th.

10-17

Deep Impact is out on tape Tuesday, you can buy the Laser Disc now if you like.

9-24

DreamWorks has just announced open DVD support. Look for Small Soldiers, The Peacemaker, and Mousehunt in December. This should mean an announcement on a Deep Impact DVD soon.

9-1

Now, here's some very good news, if it pans out to be true. Strong rumors point to that Steven Spielberg's DreamWorks SKG and Paramount Home Video have reached a tentative agreement to release Deep Impact on DVD this year. This title will not be available day and date however (on October 20th). If all goes well, it should be part of Paramount's November or December release waves.

8-11

The Hollywood Reporter tips that Paramount Home Video plans to toss Deep Impact into video stores on October 20th. The vid will be priced to move (i.e. under twenty bucks) and should hit in advance of Armageddon (unless Disney does a Dreamworks and moves up the planned date).

7-21

Some news on an alternate ending for Deep Impact:

Seems the final sequence where Tea Leoni is finally put out of her misery at the end of the film was originally conceived as a party place for thousands looking for front row seats to the end of their world. "In the original script and storyboard, there were thousands of people there [on the beach when the gigantic wave hits shore]," director Mimi Leder reveals. "We couldn't shoot that partly because of budgetary constraints, but I also thought it would be more symbolic for her to be on the beach alone with her father."

6-21

Deep Impact was ninth this week at the box office with $2.7 million bringing its total to $133.1 million. It looks like it's going to beat Godzilla! Ahhh ha ha!

6-12

Deep Impact's TV rights have gone to CBS for $25 million. (The same was paid from NBC to Sony for Godzilla) CBS will get six airings of the meteor movie over six years beginning, like Godzilla, in February 2001.

5-25

Godzilla sucks and Deep Impact continues to soar! Another $19 million for DI and it's set to reach $100 tomorrow! Read my report and why Godzilla sucks here.

5-17

Deep Impact was number one again! Go read my report.

5-10

Deep Impact number 1 with $41.9 million! My total report will be up here sometime tonight. For my entire look at the Summer films for 1998, go here.

5-9

Well, DI is out and I've already seen it twice! All I can say is that wherever you are Mrs. Leder, congratulations. First you blew me away with The Peacemaker (DreamWorks you better start making some DVD's) and you did it again with Deep Impact. (At least Paramont has the US rights, this way we'll see DI on DVD) You are a force to be reckoned with. Yes Armageddon will make more but I know that Deep Impact is the better film.

5-1

Check out the official site! The Impact Survival Network just went live!

4-16

The official site has just been updated with tons of new stuff, including the new trailer! I've got all the forms of the new trailer mirrored on my site in the media gallery incase the official site is slow.

http://www.deepimpactmovie.com/ and http://www.deep-impact.com/ both point to the same place so it doesn't matter which one you choose.

4-6

I just got my copy of the new poster (it's even better close-up) and it seems the official site has a mirror URL: http://www.deepimpactmovie.com/

4-5

For some pics from the new trailer head on over here.

4-4

Finally, the official site has more than the trailer! Go check it out! It's only got a few things up, but it mentions of a new trailer coming soon!

4-3

Just added new real video versions of the trailer, a new pic of the film and the all new poster in the media gallery.

4-2

If you saw ET yesterday you were treated to some amazing new footage from the film. Director Mimi Leder took us through some of the effects work she had done. We were treated to many new scenes of the crew out in spapce trying to stop the comets. We were also shown some of the amazing tidal wave footage as it destroyed New York. It was incredible. If anyone taped it and can digitize it, send it to me and I can host it from here.

Also, Class Act posters will have the new Deep Impact poster tomorrow. So head on over there to go pick it up. For a description, go here.

3-29
